At The Squirrels the children are able to use purposeful play to learn, not only basic skills but also as a means to discover and explore the world around them. Each child is able to progress at his or her own pace without pressure and this is achieved with the use of the new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

As well as learning opportunities where for example there are educational toys such as puzzles, books and games, we also do structured activites which may involve craft materials or cooking. Also there are play opportunities which involve music and dancing, singing, listening to stories, sand, water, malleable materials (play dough), group games, home corner and dressing up.

The Squirrels is committed to treating each and every person whether a child or a member of staff as an individual whilst recognising and respecting his or her culture race and religion.

Children with special education needs  are welcome and in each case the support offered is planned via lisising with parents/carers, local authorities, and outside specialists.
