About us

We have a keyworker system in operation where each child is monitored and supported by a particular member of staff. This should remain constant during your childs entire time with us. Parents/Carers are encouraged to share relevant information regarding their child's development with their childs keyworker. Any information kept by us regarding the child is completely confidential. The information will only be shared with the Parent/Carer and as such the Parent/Carer is entitled to see the information whenever they please. If you wish to speak to the keyworker of your child you should make an appointment at a mutually convenient time.

At The Squirrels the children are able to use purposeful play to learn, not only basic skills but also as a means to discover and explore the world around them. Each child is able to progress at his or her own pace without pressure and this is achieved with the use of an early learning programme that targets key areas. This forms the basis for activities and other learning opportunities.

As well as learning opportunities where for example there are educational toys such as puzzles, books and games, we also do structured activites which may involve craft materials or cooking. Also there are play opportunities which involve music and dancing, singing, listening to stories, sand, water, malleable materials (play dough), group games, home corner and dressing up.

The Squirrels is committed to treating each and every person whether a child or a member of staff as an individual whilst recognising and respecting his or her culture race and religion.

Children with special education needs  are welcome and in each case the support offered is planned via lisising with parents/carers, local authorities, and outside specialists.

Parents/carers are welcome into the pre-school whether as a visit or voluntary help, with suggestions and questions always being useful.
