Useful Information
Lunch Time 12.00 - 12.30
If your child stays for the lunch period you will need to provide them with a packed lunch. This needs to be supplied in a container, either a purpose built snack box or a sturdy container of some kind (a carrier bag is not really acceptable as it posses health and safety issues). The container should contain some sort of sandwiches or a snack such as pasta or salad. Also you might like to add some crisps or a yogurt and some fruit. We encourage healthy eating practices and therefore ask that no sweets or chocolate are included. In the summer months it is advisable that you also add an ice pack of some kind as we do not have the facility to keep the lunches cool. There should also be a drink (not fizzy). We have certain children with nut allergies and therefore ask that lunch boxes contain no nuts.
Snack Time
We encourage healthy eating and ask that each child brings one piece of fruit per week if possible. We supply a fruit bowl for collection of this fruit. At break time the fruit is cut up into manageable pieces and the children share it among themselves with a drink of either water from our water cooler or milk. We have recently introduced a rolling snack programme which runs from around 10-11 on selected days. The children are encouraged to work independently to get their snack and pour their own drinks. A member of staff is on hand at all times in case of spillages or if the children need assistance.
Book Bags
When your child starts with us they will be supplied with a book bag. This is to encourage the children to handle books carefully and to look at them quietly with an adult. Obviously we do not expect that the child reads the books but it is beneficial to your child to sit with them looking at the pictures and reading the story. You do not have to change them all the time, it is up to you and your child.
